EP 155: Never Quit: A Navy Divers Life After a Brutal Shark Attack - Paul de Gelder
Improvise. Adapt. Lessons from Navy Diver, Paul de Gelder
Improvise. Adapt. Overcome. These three words which serve as the mantra for the Australian Army, resonated with Paul de Gelder from the moment he heard them. Paul chased adventure wherever it took him, working his way into the elite echelons of the Australian defence forces. His life took a radical turn in February 2009 with a shark attack that left him without two of his limbs and a career as a daredevil Navy Clearance Diver in jeopardy. Drawing on everything his eventful life taught him, Paul left nothing to chance in his recovery. He fought through the excruciating pain and smashed challenge after challenge. He amazed the medical staff with his sheer will to succeed. Paul's inspiring story takes the saying, ‘never say die’ to a whole new level.
Here's what we discuss with Paul in this week's show:

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”
