EP 126 - seven time world surfing champion layne beachley - living an unbeatable life

What Does it Mean to Create True Focus to Overcome our Challenges in Life?

Arguably the greatest of all time, 7 Time World Champion, Layne Beachley is widely regarded as the most successful female surfer in history. Layne is the only surfer ever to claim six consecutive world titles (1998-2003).

She conquered the surfing world and now Layne focuses her energy into igniting human potential and training others to become more focused, accountable and motivated to achieve both professional and personal aspirations.

In this show Layne goes deep into her backstory to discuss how she faced a challenging upbringing, her humble beginnings, her bouts of depression, dealing with negative voices when competing and some of the amazing lessons Layne has leant and implemented.

Here’s what we chat to Layne about in this terrific show this week.

  • Layne’s charity work today.
  • Has grit, resilience and toughing it out been an important part of Layne's character?
  • Can Layne trace that grit back to her childhood?
  • Facing challenges and hostility and how that shapes your beliefs.
  • How what is said is often not what we actually hear or think.
  • The moment when the current world champion lost her MOJO.
  • When we have lost our MOJO, why is it so hard to reach out?
  • The backstory behind Layne’s dream of making history and becoming a world champion
  • The lessons of the sandhills, the ABCDEF vitamins of life.
  • The moment when Layne had to face Cancer when her husband Kirk was diagnosed.
  • Dealing with the voice of doubt that goes through your mind when competing.
  • How do you deal with the pain and suffering of injuries…. when competing?
  • Layne’s rituals when competing. What happens on the beach before Layne competes?
  • Where is Layne’s time for Deep Work?
  • The humbling notion of the ocean and where you can find effortless flow.
  • GRIT, a moment in Layne's life where Layne really had to dig deep and find GRIT?
  • The person who has had the biggest influence on Layne.
  • Why kids learn better from actions than words?
  • "Live an #unbeatablelife", what does that mean to Layne?
