Within a week, Joel donned a tux and headed down to meet Grant for a surf. This was the start of a community group called One Wave is All it Takes, and he found it combined his 3 life passions...surfing, mental health, and dressing up. OneWave is a non profit surf community taking funks like depression, anxiety, and bipolar with a strong recipe, salt water, surfing, good mates and Fluro Fridays. Today, OneWave is a wonderful community of surfers and non surfers who come together to have conversations to build awareness around mental health and depression.  With depression being so prevalent in our society, this story is empowering and inspiring.  From the surf board to the board room, there is a need to have this conversation to break down barriers.
