ep 84 - DoUBLE SHOT - HOW TO CREATE, THEN PROTECT AN IDEA.
The Process of Coming Up with Ideas and then Being Able to Protect Them.
In this double shot, we have two guests who both in one way or another, talk creativity.
We discuss the process of creating and then, once you have the idea, how to protect your idea and your IP. Buzz Bidstrup is an Australian musician, songwriter, producer and artist manager. He has been a member of The Angels, The Party Boys and GANGgajang and has written or co-written many of Australia’s iconic rock anthems. Buzz talks about the writing process and how to come up with stories.
Our second guest, Alicia Beverly, is an intellectual property strategist and was so popular as a guest on the show recently, we are happy to present part 2 of this interview. Once you have designed an idea, how can we protect the IP?
Here’s what we discuss on the show this week:
Buzz Bidstrup on creative writing.
- How did the new single Circles in the Sand come to be written?
- Writing Australian rock anthems, the song writing process.
- The writing of The Sounds of Then, an Aussie classic.
- The attributes of great creatives…. Paul Kelly, Iva Davies, Doc Neeson, Bon Scott. The power of observation.
- Storing ideas, how to find your own way to record your observations and ideas.
- GANGgajang are back on the road… the trend back to 80’s music.
- What can we protect when developing your brand positioning statement?
- How to create a brand positioning that can be protected.
- What does your brand positioning statement really own?
- The different types of trademarks - sounds, colours, smells, shapes.
- Designing your IP strategy as a leader.
- So you have an idea, how do you protect it?
- Do your team members know what’s confidential? Is it understood?
